PhynixCaskey.org: Art from the Ashes

Part of being an artist is having your artwork shown at conventions around your area, and as far as you are able to get them. Here is the list of Conventions where Phynix’s artwork will be shown, or conventions where Phynix herself will be.

Katsucon 14- Februrary 15 to 17, 2008
Where: Washington, DC
Phynix has no plans to exhibit her art here, she is going on vacation mostly, but if you want a commission from her it is an option if you can find her!

Keycon 25- May 16 to 19, 2008
Where: Winnipeg, MB
Phynix this year is in charge of the Keycon Artshow and Auction. She does have plans for her art to be featured!

Feb 14. 08 11:15am DC time:

So Mausu and I are in Toronto Airport right now! The Flight from Winnipeg was smooth but we now know we are not meant for air travel! Nither of us got sick as in toss our guts but we both are feeling a bit on the OMG Kill me side of the coin right now. Zanny and Aggy are happily hiding in our bags. I am sure the attendants are like WTF? As they go through x-rays. So we sit, and we wait, and wait… and… well… wait! Why cuz our DC plane got delayed! So Hungry! One Pancake was not enough for breakfast!

5:00pm DC Time:

We are officially off of the planes and in DC! On top of that we are in the most HORRID hotel. This place makes the Radission Hotel Down Town Winnipeg look like a 5 plus star hotell! We got here minamized our personal effects on us and walked downt he street to McD’s for burgers and walked back! OMG Scary! It was interesting I hate to sound Racist but I never have seen so many African American peoples in one place! It was scary!

So now we are back at the Hotel and the heat is not working well. It isn’t horribly cold, well if you ask Mausu It is REALLY cold, but it is chilly makes things uncomfortable for us to say the least!

Speaking of cold there is no SNOW any WHERE!!!! WTF? People are wrapped up in parkas and we are like WOW it is so WARM! Lucky us we are going back to Winnipeg with Tans!

7:17pm DC time:

Well we just, pardon I, just got a two hour nap and now I am WIDE FUCKING awake! I am missing John, and more so my Daughter Rebecca. I am happy I didn’t bring a picture of her I would be crying otherwise. So far we have staid in the hotel. Well Mausu is sleeping and I just don’t trust going any where on my own!

While we are at the other hotel we will use the net to book a different hotel for our last night here. I was actually thinking that maybe we would just ask Vampire Paladins mom to drop us at the Air Port on her way out of town and camp out there for the night. Mausu can sleep and I will stand watch. I have a good book or we can take pictures! After all we have Zanny and Aggy! Plus I want to look around the Airport and apparently we do have to be there at a really stupid hour, like 3am or something like that. Just easier to go at super time check in and wonder the Airport! Plus it gives us a chance to get the gifts for people. Poor mom isn’t getting smokes! I just don’t have enough cash! Sorry Mom!

Aside from that nothing is hap… pardon me I accidentally woke up Mausu. Telling her my plan talking to you all soon!

8:05pm DC time:

Mausu and I were making plans to get to the other hotel tomorrow and looking for paper and pens we found the bible it is GLUED DOWN in the night stand drawer! We are not sure if that was the hotel manager that did it or an upset guest but Man FUNNY!

Feb 15 08 9:45am DC time:

Well ia m awak dressed and ready to go. Poor Mausu just doesn’t want to get up. It took forever to fall asleep last night. I have never had a hard time trying to fully awake!

Poor Mausu is having with drawl from Gaiaonline, and Deviant Art! I know what she is doing after a shower in the new hotel! Checking the net!

Today we brave the Metro on our own. Wish us luck we may just need it! I know I can navigate it but Mausu can’t!

2:15pm DC Time:

So we are now waiting at the convention hotel waiting for Carrie to get here both Mausu and I are registered at the convention and enjoying the people walking by in costumes. So far her Death Note is filling Nicely with email sand names of the people we are taking photo’s of!

We also met this creepy guy, who was mulling Mausu . Strange and relatively harmless but if he doesn’t back off soon he will have to face a pissed off Girl friend!

Oh on other news my Kitties were born yesterday. YAY US! There are Five of them and John says all seem fine and mom is spunky. Though John is unsure what he is suppose to do! First time being around a pregnant animal will do that to a person. Can’t wait to go home and see my growing family!

2:43pm DC Time:

So we just got an update from Vampire Paladin. She wont be here till 5:30pm. Next time hotel is in our name and not her name! I don’t mind waiting so much it would just be nice to get into the room and get things set up grab a shower and start looking around. Plus we haven’t eaten yet!

Speaking of Mau she just went to get food for us so that is awesome. It means we can get some food in us and enjoy the costumes more.

I just got a text back from Andy, looks like he isn’t coming I want to cry! I was looking forward to seeing him. I hope they change their minds and show up!

4:00pm DC Time:

So sitting and waiting for Vampire Paladin proved interesting. We were here outside and we heard a whole slew of sirens. And almost all motorists pulled over right away. Following the police on motor bikes was a couple of black SUV’s. When a pair of cops came out of the hotel we got a picture of them and they told us that it was most likely a VIP chances are it was the VP as he lives down the street from the hotel we are in. That was cool. Amazing that the cops talked to us for as long as they did. They were nice!

Oh as I write this Sephi caught my eye and Mausu was off. Lost the pen for a moment when Vash walked by. We already have a lot of photos and different things oh what a lot of fun. UGH When is Vampire Paladin getting here?

Feb 16 08 3:16 DC time

So we have been busy since Vampire Paladin and her mom got here. Now we are chilling out before the cosplay show.

YAY I GET TO MEET OWEN! Going for supper with owen instead of cosply show so much better…

End Note: Apparently I was so busy I didn’t write a lot while at the convention so here is the POST Convention Report! Okay I am writing this two weeks after the event so I will try to keep it in a nice order.

After we got to the Con Mausu was able to get her badge before Me, though I was Pre Registered! So that was a bit strange to me! It was like OMG usually Pre Reg gets through faster! So I think next convention that I know I will be there ahead of time like I was I will reg at the con! Not Pre Reg like I did.

The hotel was like AWESOME but they had a strange set up. Again going with what I am use to with Keycon a 600 person convention vs. the 6000 people convention. The costumes were amazing and next time I go I will have to bring my own! My Favourite costume was the Naruto Killer! YAY DEATH TO NARUTO! The Panels barely interested me. I went to see costumes, the art show, the merchants room, and a few anime.

I got to meet MOOKIE! YOU ROCK MY SOCKS! I also got to meet the guy from Apple Geeks? I think that was it! Another Free Web Comic that I don’t read! But I use to Read Mookie’s comic and loved it. So it was awesome meeting him!

The Dealers room was so large it would have taken me all day to go through it but I opted not too cuz I was like OH I WANT! And I was like NO NO NO!!! I tried not to spend money. I did buy a few things but not a lot. I was looking for Asian Ball join Doll’s there and the clothes for them but I didn’t find any merchants with that.

Though I did head that there was one. I got to go to the Dolly meet and I walked up six floors of stairs and realised I am BIG TIME out of SHAPE! I use to be able to do things like that but not any more! I got to touch other Resin Babies! Mausu is going to buy one the moment she has a bit of extra money! I am a bit upset about that! I was hoping it would be a cool hobby I had that she did not! But at the same time I am crafty and she is not so she will be needing to buy the clothes or ask me nicely to make her some too! I will most likely make them for her any ways but ask for pictures! So Coolies!

I bought Mausu a print of L and Light from Death Note! One she would never have bought herself! She while I was buying that was buying me a labyrinth print I COMPLETELY MISSED! OMG I FAIL AS A FAN GIRL!

Oh what else? You know I am not sure what else to report on. I had a kick ass time. I met a lot of neat people. Vampire Paladin was a great hostess more so when she stopped trying to play hostess. Owen and his brother were AWESOME in taking time out of there own Anime Event to visit with me! I wish I had of yoinked Mausu’s Camera. I should have but I never thought of it.

The food around the Hotel is amazing, and the sights of DC (the whole 5 hrs worth we saw) were amazing and I want to go visit for a week or two and do more of the City! Maybe after I go to PA and check out PA!

It was a great convention, a great time, and I would love to do it again!
